I am helping my brother try to figure out why his phone line still has a busy signal after he shuts down the computer. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Is this an internel or external modem?

Problem modems will sometimes not let go of the internet connection until you shut your pc down, but this is after it is powerd down?

It is an internal modem and when the computer is totally shut down it still is connected. the only way to disconnect is to un-plug the phone line.

    Thanks U.P. Willie

Does he have 2 places to plug the telephone wire into the modem? Have you tried the other plug on the modem?
