Last night, my computer crashed and when I rebooted the internet decided it didnt want to work anymore on my vista machine. It still works on a laptop running XP which I dont quite understand.

    So far i've tried..

Unplugging and replugging the router from the wall socket
Changing the cables for my computer
    Diagnostics on Vista
Searching for a new IP address

all to no avail. I have no clue now what the problem is. The only sign of life ive seen is the internet status going from "limited or no connectivity" to "unidentified network"

    any suggestions?

    Update

Reinstalled vista to work on a clean installation and still nothing.

    Any ideas of the problem?

Have you reset the router? Tried "Run", ipconfig /flushdns ? The Vista pc is wired to router and the XP pc is wireless?
If yes can you wire the XPpc and does it surf?
