Hello - hoping someone out there can help. I have a DSL connection and modem and when I plug the modem into my PC the Internet light on the modem does not light up. However, it does light up when I plug it into 2 other laptops that I have in my house (and the connection) and the internet works fine. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I've dealt with the ISP at length and they say that everything looks fine on their end. And I've tried to install a new ethernet card (but the PC says the old one is still working).

I'm kind of at a loss!

For the problem PC please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
