internet on 2 comps withought router

i have connected 2 cmputers togehter using 1 crossover cable and 2 lan cards now i was told that this way i can only go on the internet on the computer that is not connected to the internet but connected to the computer with the internet via lan like using my existing setup would i be able to get on the internet using some sort of software or somthing withought getting a router

You can get a wired router for something like 9.99 - 29.99 after rebate.

The 100% of the time protection you get from problems on the Internet is worth the expense. Shared printing, shared Internet without the main machine having to be up and file transfers between machines is great also.

Magazines I read and Programs I watch suggest getting a router even if you only have one computer (security discussed above is the reason).

I have routers, switches, a wireless access point and VOIP phone service. The money I save on phone service helps cover the cost of my broadband connection.

Get the router you won't be sorry.

lol i am on crappy aol and they only support certain routers and the cheapest is 60 pound so thats why i am reluctant to buy a router and i ow my dad smothing in the region on 400 pound for new computer what i built
