the drop down list is overpopulated with history- please refer to a past topic if you know one of this nature. To delete this list and prevent further invasion,( if possible)-this is our quest! Thank you. Using windows98, I.E.6sp1.

    Hi will bent

Go to Tools\internet options and delete history - this will clear your drop down list

If in future you have a URL which you do not want to be added to the drop down list - go to start\run and enter the URL - the site will be opened but the URL will not be added

Steamwiz, sir- another angle required here...to restate- usual entry- 'msnmember.com' now a scroll index with many entries appears including this most recent techguy page. Not sure what I did to incur this memory at homepage 'use default' button'. I noticed a response to 'ggireland' on 1/01/03 that appeared a similarity, but a different system. Also, to- 'big jim' on 1/01/03 a 'bhblaster' suggestion.....? Always many thanx, will

    Hi will bent

It sounds as though your homepage has been hijacked

download and run spybot - this more often than not will solve the problem for you

    Please Download and install SpyBot,

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/spybot14.exe

click the online tab to search for and download the updates, then shut down and relaunch SpyBot.

Go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, click 'Check for problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds 'Fix selected problems'

you may have to run spybot more than once to clear everything

Try running "spider" to delete your index.dat files :-

    http://www.fsm.nl/ward/

    If the problem still persists

If you post your startup list we may be able to spot something

Please post your startup list by doing the following :-

Please go here and download startuplist 1.5 :-

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/startuplist15.zip

Download to any folder or your desktop
    Unzip the zipfile
    Double click the exe file
go to Edit - select all - copy - and paste the results in a new post here
