Internet popup. is it a virus?

    Got a popup box on all my machines that have internet access through ADSL. cant attach as too big so here goes

    Then there is an OK button. This popped up even though IE was not open

    Is this a virus?

    Run Spybot Search and Destroy, from http://lurkhere.com/~nicefiles

    Before scanning,click the Online button, Check For Updates, check all the boxes, Download Updates.

    No it's not a virus

    it's using a service caused messenger, not to be confused with msn messenger

    it's an inbuilt service on xp or win 2000 for system managers to send messages to other computers on the network and the spammers are usinhg it to send spam

    if you have xp

    go to start/run ...type services.msc and then disable messenger
