Internet randomly drops for a few seconds then reconnects.

    Hello all and thanks in advance for any help.

    My problem is that my internet will randomly drop sometimes 1 to 5 times a day and stay off for 5-20 seconds then come back on. I have dsl and im using a Westell modem. I will post some of my system info below. Anything else you need just ask.


    Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)

    If you mean that the modem is dropping the connection to your ISP, and your ISP supplied the modem, then call their tech support--the problem is all their's unless you have poor phone wiring. Otherwise, what do you mean?

    I went to launchmodem one time when it was down and it said "ATM connection is down" mind you I have no clue what that means but I suppose ill give bellsouth another shot. They have been out here once before to look at it but I dont think the guy knew what he was doing and he just fiddled with the modem a bit then said call if you have any more problems. I will give them another shot tomorrow I suppose.
