I have ceoetc internet, All day long it runs between 8-10 mbps but for the past two weeks every night except last Saturday the speed drops to nothing. I have had their tech guys out and they swear nothing is wrong on their end. I've been on the phone with them every night still no solution they tell it's my router so I bought a new one same problem. The funny thing is I now run the speed test directly connected to their service and same problem. Now they want us to pay for advanced tech guy to come out. But if they aren't going to come out when the service isn't working i really don't see the point.

It sure sounds like they're throttling the speed so you have to pay for an advanced Tech to come out. If your area is like where we live they're the only choice you have for a provider.

I have general knowledge of internet access via dial-up, DSL, cable, fiber, satellite, ethernet, ethernet over power lines and fixed wireless. But I've never heard of "ceoetc." Please enlighten me.

I believe it is a Texas ISP, from my searching.

Warning: the website plays an audio I did not want to hear.
I very much dislike auto play audio and videos.

Assuming that you are correct, plodr, that narrows the possibilities to DSL, cable or satellite.

What speeds do you get with a wired connection to the router and/or modem ?

The company offers fixed wireless to 7 Texas cities.

Since I wasn't sure what fixed wireless was, I googled.

So it looks like it isn't any of the three: DSL, cable or satellite.
