Internet speed starts out fast but quickly gets slower and slower

    I have AT&T Broadband cable connection with ME os, AMD750 processor, 512ram. When I connect to the internet the speed starts out fast but within 5 minutes it gradually gets slower and slower. I didn't have this problem in my old house but when we moved a few miles down the road it started doing this. Does anybody know why this might be doing this?

    What are you doing when you notice it slowing down? Just surfing, gaming?
    Are you running a firewall, what antivirus software are you using?
