Hello everyone.
Currently, I live in a college apartment that has internet for the building. Not that many people are here, so I figured it would be okay. Here is a speedtest:
As you can see, it should be decent. It IS decent when I'm browsing the internet..facebook, email, youtube, etc.
It is also fine when I am downloading files.
But when I play games in Steam, it is very slow. When I search for servers, the pings are all 1000+. When I join a game, my ping is 500-600 and it's unplayable cause of how jumpy and choppy I am.
The thing about this is that when I download steam updates/files, it downloads at regular speeds!
How can I fix this? What settings do I look at? I've heard of port forwarding and things like that, but I am not sure exactly what to do.
One huge detail: This very same internet used to run the game fine, as well as World of Warcraft (I haven't tested that game with the internet now since I quit a while back), but there was a huge power out, power went out for 5 days, and now it's running slow.
So anyway, any help would be appreciated. Basically, why are games running super slow when everything else is pretty good?
