When I try to open some installer ".exe" files. I get an error message that says " Installer CRC invalid" and has "NSIS Error" in the title bar. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm running Win 98 SE.

How many times has this actually happened? How many different installers has it happened with?
It sounds like the installer wasn't fully downloaded, or somehow became damaged while downloading. Try running a program installer from a disk or something (just to ensure that there isn't a problem with Windows Installer). Or you could try re-downloading whatever installer is giving you the problem.

Another remote possibility (I say remote because I don't know how reliable the source is), is that you're infected with the win95.cih (Chernobyl) virus. Read this post for more information, and check out this page from Symantec on how to fix it (if you DO in fact have the virus).

I think that it's more likely that your copy of the installer file is just corrupt or damaged though.

    Good Luck,

    Columbo :)
