using 8x4x32 Iomega zipcd cdrw, reads other CDs ok but will not read the Norton Ghost CD. Message is 'cd drive not ready...' .
I've tried several times. Is the CD too advanced for the drive?
Have you had a chance to see if the norton Ghost disk is read by another cd-rom drive? It's possible that the problem is the disk itself ( scratched or maybe the dye on the cd-r , if it's a cd-r , is the problem )
I think that somehow the Iomega has a problem reading the dye on the Norton CD disk. Can you copy the Norton CD on a different cd-r ( as in with a different dye) and give it a try?
If it is a factory pressed CD it is compatible with any drive.
It is most likely scratched or dirty and the Memorex has better error correction. Error correction ability differs greatly among readers. Surprisingly the 24X and 40X Plextors are really crappy at reading a scratched disc.
If you try cleaning it wipe from the middle out and not around in the direction of the recording.
