    Greetings all,

I am a tech at a larger company with about 1k workstations. I am running into issues where the host names do not properly resolve with the right ip address.

Example, I ping a host name, it gives me an IP, but when I VNC into the workstation, it is a totally different host. Likewise, I've never paid any attention, but if the host I'm looking for happens to be offline, I can ping the host, and I won't get any replies, but it will show [AN IP ADDRESS] that it attempted to ping.

    Any suggestions?

VNC would not stop the DNS functionality to get to the correct remote desktop. It sounds like there is something going on with your DNS server locally that is not purging old stale records. I am not sure why you would use VNC if there is already RDP available for the LAN

RDP is not always an option for discrete monitoring purposes. How would you go about purging old dns records? Shouldn't this be happening automatically?
