hi all win 98 se 256 megs ram
my son who lives 2 miles away gave me his ip addy to play a game when i put in ip in correct box, it timed out even when I pined him it timed out.
but we were talking online and did same when I gave him mine.

any clue what's up?

What were the IP addresses? Sounds like you are using an invalid one or a natted one. If you have a firewall setup that would cause it to time out as well.
