I'm trying to install this wireless router and its telling to release and renew the ip address. I am able to release the ip address through "ipconfig/release" but when I try to type in "ipconfig/renew" I get an error saying that I cannont connect to DHCP server.

    Wireless router is ZyXEL P-330W

Click Start, Run, and type CMD to open a command prompt:

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

    Reboot the machine.

The "netsh winsock reset catalog" worked. But when I typed "netsh int ip reset reset.log" it froze/computer was thinking, and then skiped a line (with no text). I tried using the wireless router again but I got the same error.

When I go to Control Panel/Network Connections/Right click LAN Properties/TCP/IP Properties/General Tab/Advanced/Ip Settings Tab It shows DHCP as enabled. However in the cmd box it doesn't. (Internet Connection Sharing is disabled)

Maybe you should more precisely identify your router--brand and model helps much more than "this."

Your ipconfig /all shows that you received an ip configuration from something, presumably your router. What's the "PPP adapter My ISP:"?

P.S.-that static IP on the PPP is probably where the ipconfig /renew error is coming from--not the ethernet.

    From the results of IPCONFIG,

The computer is configured for DHCP.

    The address information is
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.64
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Normally you would have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Is the router really configured to use 255.255.0.0 instead?

I'm not connected through the wireless router. (I can't connect through it since it can't connect the DHCP)
