    Hi!
Well I will be planning to buy my first ever smart phone! I've still got my 2008 Nokia cell phone (not a smartphone) but will getting rid of it. I am not well versed in smartphones so I was wondering if someone could give me some basic information. I've seen people use smartphone and to me it looks like it's a cell phone with Internet access. Below is my question.
    1. After purchasing the smartphone it will be connected to the Internet through its network. So what is wi-fi? There seems to be two ways of connecting to the Internet with the smartphone. Through its network or wifi.
I have a laptop at home and connect to the Internet with a cord inserted in the wall in my apartment. The reason I am asking this question is after perusing the online catalogue they are selling the iphone Xr by itself or the iphone Xr with a portable wi-fi device (Wi-Fi NEXT). Of course the iphone Xr with the wi-fi device package will cost a bit more. Just wondering what are the advantages are of having the additional wi-fi device.
    Cheers, cordeiro

The iphone is capable of going on to the internet. All you need is a cell phone service with a data plan. Don't know what the wi-fi gadget is, ask the seller.

Just get a mobile data plan for your iPhone and you won't need another wi-fi gadget.
