Ipod compatibility

I don't know if this is in the right forum, & if it isn't, sorry.
Can anyone tell me if Ipods are compatible with laptops? I want to buy a laptop soon but not if it won't work with ipods.

As long as it has USB 2.0 ports and Windows XP it should work just fine, and any new laptop would meet these requirements.
