I was wondering if there is a way to boot a computer from a 5G iPod 30 gig. It would be a great way to travel with all your operating system settings, files, and everything. Thanks!

if there was such a possibility, i would rush to the stores to get an iPod. but my cd player has kept me happy until now. am getting an iriver video player.

most pcs can boot from USB drives. get an IDE hdd and hook it up with a IDE to USB converter box, works fine for me. i get to use my pc everywhere. installing windows 2000/xp on the usb drive is the tricky bit. but i'm running windows98 on it.

iPod hard drives aren't built of system drive use. They're designed to work in short, fast bursts to load the mp3's, mp4's whatever's.
Install an OS onto it and it would overheat big time.
