Is DDR downward compatable?

    is DDR downward compatable like the sdram 133/100/66?

    Not necessarily.

    As for SDRAM, PC133 would not work on a PC66 board and sometimes, neither would PC100.

    Personally, I never saw a PC133 chip that would not run on a board designed for PC100, though.

    I've yet to find an instance where PC2700 or PC3200 won't work in place of PC2100.

    In the old days of SDRAM, the reason newer and faster modules wouldn't work had nothing to do with the speed, but rather the different chip configurations on the modules. That lesson seems to have been learned with DDR memory, and it appears interchangable. You still have to know what is the maximum module size your MB accepts, that can still be a problem.
