Recently I noticed that this app has appeared next to the address bar in Chrome. I'm running MacOSX 10.13.5. I didn't download (knowingly) this app, and I suspect that I missed out on a check box I needed to unselect when I was downloading and installing some other app. Is this app malware, and if so, how do I remove it from my Mac please?

(Btw I couldn't download and install the sysinfo.exe file obv as I'm on a Mac. Is there a Mac version I can use instead?)

Anyone heard of this Chrome extension, and whether it's safe? And if not, how do I remove it safely?

Is it Chrome extension or a app?

Freeconference call is a legitimate and useful program/tool . It does have apps/ extensions for chrome & firefox, but you don't need to use them and can just use the web interface.

I haven't heard of it being installed as a bundle anywhere, either on mac or windows

Well since I never actively tried to install it, and out of the blue I noticed it installed on Chrome one day, it must be a sneaky bundle along with something else. Either that of it's malware pretending to be a legitimate extension.
Either way, I never wanted to install it, so how do I safely remove it from my Mac please?

If it is only a chrome extension, then open chrome / settings ( 3 dots at top right of browser) / more tools / extensions & select remove

Great thanks Derek, although my version of Chrome seems to have a different navigation to get to the extensions in the settings, I did find it and it seems to have done the trick.
