I have two computer and I want to network them. They both have separate high speed Internet connections. Is there anyway to get the two computers to act like they are connect directly over the Internet?

Use 1 more NIC ( LAN card) for each. Set the IP for them! That's it! Ofcourse, you have 2 NIC/each now!

I assume you're talking about two different locations, correct? A VPN is probably the most straight forward way.

Note that with most broadband accounts, the upload speed is vastly slower than the download speed. Since traffic between these systems will have to go through the upload side on one end or the other, the speed will not be anything like a local network. For instance, my 256/3000 Comcast account would be limited to 256kbit throughput if I networked with another Comcast location.
