Is it the Router, Modem, or Apple TV?

    Hello,

I have a modem (Time Warner), and Linksys router (not sure of model) and Apple TV. Lately I have been having problems with the Apple TV remaining connected (wirelessly) to the router. My usual attempt to solve this is to reboot the router/modem as well as the Apple TV.

I don't know if the problem is with Apple TV, the router (which is nearly 6 years old) or with the modem and do not have any idea of how to determine where the problem lies.

My wife is tired of not being able to have access to Apple TV consistently, hence my reason for posting here.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance! :(

Since you say the problem is loss of wireless connection you can eliminate the modem as a possible culprit.

Do you have any other device that can connect by wireless? If so, does it lose connection at the same time the TV does?

Do you have any computer that can connect by wireless? If so, what OS?

Sorry, just now getting a chance to respond. I had to wait till I was at a point that I would have the Apple TV turned on. So, here's what happened.

I turned on the Apple TV and listened to music for a few minutes and then all of a sudden the connection was gone. I got out my Ipad and Iphone to check for wireless connections. Both made connection to my router. I unplugged/replugged the Apple TV and it began working again.

So, clearly the issue is with the Apple TV and not my router, unless there is something in the router that is not specified correctly.

    Thoughts?

unless you are using some kind of MAC filtering which is blocking the AppleTV, it does seem that device is the issue.
