Crucial is about as good as it gets.

Memory varies greatly from company to company. Memory from the same company can even vary greatly from other memory by the same company. Simply put, every chip has a specific application for which it has been designed.

"Dell" memory isn't actually Dell memory; rather, it's a memory chip created by another manufacturer and used in Dell desktops, laptops, etc.. Many times Dell will use cheaper components to save money and make a higher return (that's capitalism :)). So, when you ask if it's as good as Crucial, that depends on the Dell desktop, laptop, etc. that you are looking at and what memory chips they've used. Win2kpro is very correct about Crucial being about as good as it gets. For the money, you will not find many chips that outperform Crucial. There are, of course, many opinions about who makes the best memory, but for most applications, you cannot go wrong with a Crucial memory chip. Another great brand to consider is Corsair (my personal choice), especially if you are looking for memory for a high end project.
