    hay,

When i am in a hurry i just hold my on switch to my comp for 5 secods and my computer turnsa off. My computer definitly saounds like it is turned off except my keyboard and my mouse r still on and when i press a key/move my mouse the computer turns back on. Is my computer still on when i do that? If so then does tht mean i have wasted all that electricity?

ps:When i turn my computer off (Start>Shutdown) it turns off, the keyboard and everything but not the mouse. When i move the mouse the comp does not turn back on. Wots up with that?

pss- i have an AMD Athlon1.8ghz and win xp

it sounds like your computer is going into "sleep" mode instead of shutting off.

I would recomment just clicking start/shut down when ever you want to turn off the computer... its easier on the computer that way.

In Control Panel> Power Options> Advanced: 'When I press the power button on my computer'. Choose 'Shutdown'
