a few weeks ago my pc just kinda shut off randomly. i figured id ignore it couse it might have just been something weird...

it kept up pretty regularly and i decided that id format and reinstall vista
a little ways into this and it shut off again. it does it usually one or two times a day. (im on it usuall about 2 hrs or so.}

one of my friends said that it was probably a bad power supply.
could this be the problem or could it be the mobo or something?

It could also be overheating. Open the system up and see how the fan and heatsink look. The heatsinks can get full of dust and sometimes the heatsinks can break or loosen off.

You can check the temps in the BIOS setup of the motherboard or using something like SpeedFan while runnign Windows: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
