I have been using Spybot S&D awhile now and I rely on it along with Ad-Aware to get rid of my spyware. Well just recently I have heard that Spybot S&D i has stability problems and that the database is outdated. Is this true? If so, what is the best free spyware programs out there? Thanks.

I used to have Spybot and AdAware but, once I installed SpywareBlaster, they both stopped finding very much. Then I had problems with the latest version of AdAware (can't remember what it was) so I uninstalled it.

I keep Spybot because I think its Tools are sometimes useful, but I don't rely on it. I once tried to run Tea Timer but it killed my old '98 computer and I haven't tried to it on this XP computer.

My antivirus (NOD32) now includes an anti-spyware component and BOClean claims to be able to stop it as well, so I don't use anything else.

Yeah that link is almost 4 years old lol. I mean I would hope they have that all figured out by now. I have never noticed any of the errors and things they are talking about in that link. Also how many spyware programs do you run? I use spybot ,ad-aware 2007 and I have windows defender however windows defender has never ever come up with one thing? I am thinking windows defender is a complete waste.

many sites now say Spybot isnt ver good anymore... but i find it...reasonably useful, it managed to pick up SmitFraud C on my computer... now i doubt anyone would say that was an easy one and it removed it completely too, i no longer use Adaware... it seems a little pointless (i would give a reason but im tired and i cant think :) ) i use

-Avast (far better than AVG as quite a few people say, i choose it because it has a bit of realtime protection and has a higher detection rate than AVG (trust me theres enough debate around here your bound to find an answer))
-Spybot
-SuperAntispyware
