I just installed Pinnacle Media Center 100e on my laptop and it installed Sql server 2000. Is this program neccessary to run the TV part? what is it for?

You are in the best position to answer this question for two reasons:

    1. You have the Documention.

    2. You can Remove the SQL software and TEST the TV function! If it does not work then you can re-install the software.

Yes, SQL is a DB product. Without knowing what functions the media software provides I can not say whether it needs a DB or not. I CAN think of some functions it could be put to use for, but the FUNCTION of the TV itself is not one of them.
