A friend recently went on a porn site and a program came on his computer of pornographic pictures and he can not get rid of it. It put an icon on his desktop. Is this a virus and how do you get rid of it?

Probably not a virus but rather some unwanted BHO...adware..spyware...some nuisence. Best thing to do is run a Hijack This scan and post the log here. There are experts that can tell you what to get rid of to fix the problem. BTW, I don't include myself in that class of experienced HJT experts, I wish I was.

Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijachthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

I told the friend to go to this site and ask for help, because he lives 30 miles from me.
