This seems like a simple question to me, but I want to get other opinions. Where I work my predecessors had run one CAT 5 cable from the switch to the office. That's where I think it's not CAT 5 anymore. They plugged a 4 port hub into that one cable and are running 4 connections off of that hub. Is that still CAT 5?

chances are very high it's at least cat 5........what makes you think it would be otherwise? If your data transfer rate is over, say, 20 megabits/sec, it will be cat 5.

Thanks...I actually looked up the ethernet hub and it's not a hub..it's actually a 3com Intellijack Switch so should be getting the correct throughput.
