I suspect that a friend has had his computer invaded, infected or otherwise compromised by something called "Ishocruckou". I've attached a screen shot of his home page with the offending toolbar shown. He can't seem to get rid of the toolbar, it keeps re-loading itself and the toolbar changes as he's surfing. I've searched the internet but cannot find any reference to Ishocruckou. Anybody out here heard of it? or know how to get rid of it? Thanks everyone. You guys are always very knowledgeable & helpful.
I'd suggest that he first download Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de After installing, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.
Next, close all Internet Explorer and OE windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds that is marked in RED.That ought to get rid of most of your spyware.
Next, download & run adaware, from http://www.lavasoft.de open adaware & check for updates first then run it.
See if that helps. If not, then it may be time to run Hijack This.
He's already run Adaware & found nothing. I'll send him the Spybot link. Thanks for a speedy reply. Can you refresh my memory on Hijack This? A link perhaps? Thanks again
o to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or
even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
