My ISP (windstream) is claiming nothing is wrong when my town is having trouble connect to internet itself. I don't know about other towns, never go there. I am suppose to have 12 Mb and The most I have had in the past 2 weeks is 3. Friends have even less somehow. Usually 10AM-10PM the average is 300 Kb. I have to pause a video for 10 minutes to load a minute sometimes.

They claim nothing is wrong. Anyone translate that into something that can be wrong?

Just a suggestion for this. I would call them and tell them to come to your place and to show you proof of no problem. That's what I di with comcast. Got a couple of months free. Keep in mind that it may cost a couple bucks to come out.

I doubt they would actually do that but it's worth a shot.
    Thanks

Yes, I do every few hours because there's nothing to do in my town and the best I've gotten all week today, 5 Mb. Ping is still to bad to play a game though.

Is it one server you are having trouble with or any server?

Actually that's the best server, the one closest to me is the worse.

Remind me, what do you have? A router/modem combination? A modem and seperate router?

If you can, first bypass your switch and see if you get the same issue, then bypass your router to see if that helps. If not, then you are definitely looking at a possible ISP issue.

My town calls them so many times I'm wondering how it's not fixed yet. Now when I call them there just a auto-mated voice message saying the help desk is unavailable.

Looks like the BBB should be involved then but did you bypass the equipement as mentioned?

Without seeing their data, it does sound like a utilization issue (oversold in the area) and its hard to fix that, especially if it's a small company because it cost in the millions to get the equipment and then the backbone to support it
