My parents just got a new HP PC last week, and the printer that the guys at Best Buy recommended is not compatible with Windows Vista. They tried to return it, only to find that Best Buy has no compatible ones in stock. I found a partial solution, a download from Microsoft that will allow printing and scanning, without faxing. We tried to download it, but Windows Vista kept kicking it out with less than a minute remaining on the transfer. I downloaded the file on my laptop, moved it to my flash drive (cruzer micro), and installed it onto their computer. It recognizes the flash drive, but I can't get the darn thing to open. I can see the launchpad listed under the USB drive, but can't access it or open files therein. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The printer is a HP Photosmart C6100 series, if that helps.

Many thanks.

Have you tried installing the XP drivers, using the compatibility option in Vista.(Right click the setup, or install.exe file and select "run in compatibility..etc..")
