I've been having trouble being able to change my wallpaper and screen saver, among other display things.

When I right-click on the desktop and click on Properites, as soon as I click on the Desktop tab, I get 2 errors. One says:

    rundll32.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x6370a3ba" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

    and the other error says:

Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Needless to say, this becomes annoying and difficult. What should I do?

Sounds like you may have a corrupt DLL.

Firstly, run SFC to refresh all system files.

Strat - Run - type "SFC /scannow" into the run dialog box and hit enter.
Do not type the "", and be sure to put a space between "SFC" and " /scannow"

If you get it right, a dialogue box appears and show progress. Takes a few minutes, you may or may not be asked for your Windows CD.
