Hi. I have a brand new ipod 80G classic. My computer recognizes it but iTunes won't. Even when (occasionally) it shows up in the side-bar on iTunes 8, if I ran the diagnostic, I get told it's not connected. I have tried (numerous times) to follow the 5 steps, to no avail. I am using an AMD Athlon64 with Windows XP (Home). Here is the info I get when I check into Computer Management Event Viewer:

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: iPod Service
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 0
    Date: 15/10/2008
    Time: 8:19:19 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SEANIX-167016F6
    Description:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( iPod Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started.

I also get the following 2 errors:

    1) Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Disk
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 51
    Date: 15/10/2008
    Time: 8:30:26 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SEANIX-167016F6
    Description:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk6\D during a paging operation.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    2) Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Disk
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 11
    Date: 15/10/2008
    Time: 8:30:27 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SEANIX-167016F6
    Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk6\D.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Could this be what's causing my problems? I also have a 1GB Nano but I got it to work, although I'm not sure how (they are under separate users on my computer).

I would be grateful for any help anyone can give me as if I can't get this solved within the next day or 2 I will be returning it (I have 5 days until warranty expires).

Let me know if you need further info.

    Thanks.
