1st set a restore point in system restore.
Then try this > uninstall everything apple > ( that shoddy Itunes is a bugger)

Try using Revo for this > http://download.cnet.com/RevoUninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687649.html
Here's the list of apps to uninstall >

    1 Apple App Support
    2 Apple Mobile Device Support
    3 Apple Software Update
    4 Bonjour
    5 ITunes
(Anything Apple or Itunes needs to go)

Reboot if necessary or prompted -
Run "CleanUp" - get it here >
    http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?Itemid=69&id=15&option=com_content&task=view

    Then go to>
    1 "My Computer"
    2 "Tools"
    3 "Folder Options"
    4 "View"
5 Check the spot that says "Show Hidden Folders"

    Now got to Disk C
Programs ( Look for everything "Apple" or "Itunes" or "Bonjour" and delete them)
Documents and Settings - and look in "Application Data"
look in "Local Settings" - "Application Data"
and keep deleting everything "Apple" or "Itunes" or "Bonjour"

Now go back and ck the box to "Do Not Show Hidden Folders"

Run "CCleaner" or "CleanUp" again and reboot.

I would defrag now - put that's up to you >
Now go and get the latest download of Itunes and install it - works everytime - and more than likely you'll still have your music library - if not then you really cleaned it out good!
Which is what you want - a fresh start.

Thanks for the info, but after spending several hours deleting every reference to an apple product in my PC, including a huge reg edit, after re installation the damn itunes still does not even load, and spending £35 to get an anser from apple does not appeal.

    Download microsoft install cleanup utility.

Run the program and see if it lists itunes. If it does, mark it for cleanup by the program. Restart the PC and try installing iTunes again.

Win 7, it would be nice if someone creted an 'app' for the PC to sort this, although Apple have said that much of the problem has arisen since upgrage to itunes 9.1.3, there remedy is to delete everything Apple and re-install an earlier version. A new upgrade is expected soon!!!

If it makes you feel ant better mine is corrupt also after trying the new update - I got it working - but It will not retrieve CD info from the net anymore - and when I open SharePod I get the message "ITunes needs to be installed" .
Bleeping Apple - bunch shoddy software geeks that sleep every-night on a big bed of cash can't even create an update for their own baby!
I can sync my new music but I have to select "Get Info" to label them now.
And I like SharePod because it will copy stuff to the Ipod that Itunes refuses to.
So now all we can do is wait a week till they fix the bugs in their updates I guess.

I would give sharepod a try, it works with ipods. search getsharepod to find it, it is free. the only problem is you really need to sync some of the ipods with itunes in case you ever have a problem. the itouch is a good example. I had a friend who got his itouch locked up and the only solution was using a computer the itouch had been previously synced with. sharepod will allow you to move music to the ipod. hope this helps.

SharePod will copy stuff Itunes refuses to - put if you don't have Itunes installed right - it won't work as SharePoD is a portable app.
    Blleeepping Apple!
