iTunes store error message

Whenever I try to access the iTunes music store, I get an error message saying "iTunes could not connect to the music store, make sure your network is active and try again". I have a cable internet connection, so I'm always on. I have already checked the firewall settings on McAfee and given full access to iTunes and iTunes helper. Any ideas? Any help will be appreciated.
