    Good Morning,
I have been using iTunes for years. Suddenly when I try to open it nothing happens. It's almost like the shortcut is no longer connected to the program. I wish it were that easy.I have tried all I can think of and hope someone else has a solution. I am somewhat computer savvy but by no means an expert.I have over 3000 tunes in version 9.2. I am using Windows XP, my computer is virus and malware free. I am hoping there is something short of deleting and re-installing that can be done but I am willing to do whatever works. Thanks for looking at my note. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

What happens if you right click on the Shortcut and choose properties..does it say start in program files C drive?

and if you click on Find Target does it go to the iTunes files in your Programs?

and do other program shortcuts work on the desktop?

No, right clicking brings up itunes.exe nothing more or less. Maybe the path isn't right? Should it start with itunes or ituneshelper? Or c:/programfiles/itunes.exe ???

Also another possible solution is to try a System Restore to a date when it was working

I tried that right away and cannot go back far enough to restore it. Can I ask you what your iTunes shortcut says when you right click it?

I sometimes have a similar issue on my system for iTunes and Adobe programs.
They don't run if process is already running in the background, on my system seems like the process is getting stuck.

Check Task Manager (shortcut press keys: Ctrl + Left Shift + Esc)
    Processes Tab
    look for "iTunes.exe"
    Highlight it, click End Process

Try to run the shortcut again.
