 Hi y'all

Rite, i'll get to the point, I updated my msn plus today and It automatically installed that MySearch toolbar etc, it replaced my home page and all my favourites etc...

This has happned before and i've just simply gone to application data under documents and settings and deleted the appropriate files, then reset my internet settings and run Spybot to scan for any more lop parasites.

Well this time that hasn't worked, i've tried deleting the appropriate files from RegEdit, well to tell you the truth they didn't exist. I've got rid of everything now, my homepage comes as normal and i don't get any new favourites or shortcuts on my desktop. it's just the dam toolbar at the top of this screen, it won't go, it gets rid of my google and realone toolbar.

I've tried running Spybot, its deleted lop parasites and various other adware stuff, also tried SpySweeper, but the toolbar is still there. Could someone please recommend another program that will completely get rid of it and if possible block it from coming up again? :(

Thanks, I appreciate your time taken in reading this :)

Ciao

You should install, update and run Ad-Aware and then download Hijack This and post a scan log.

AD-AWARE

Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
and download Ad-Aware 6 Build 181

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right-hand corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------ON=GREEN

From main window: Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)

Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.

Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click proceed to save your settings.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer

Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. Save it to it’s own folder (not temporary files or the desktop).

Close all open windows and open HIJACK THIS. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the scan and advise.

Read further up and try the MSconfig option.

Also, try your adware under the following conditions:

Start your PC up. During mid bootup (when the Win XP logo shows) pull the power plug. Restart and go into safe mode when presented with the option.
If you know how to enter safemode without pulling power, do that. Power plug is just the fastest way to explain if you dont know how.

In safe mode try running your adware and qurantining the affected items.
