    OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 98 4.10
    Excel version 7.0

Problem: Error message in Excel program:bill list.xls: file format is not valid
(will not allow me to open this file when I click on it...same problem
with another file, but NO PROBLEM with 2 other files!)

ALSO-- will not allow me to access "Help" options on drop-down box
when click on "Help" from Tool Bar

I just discovered this problem today, never had it before!
PLEASE HELP!! What has changed (or WHAT have I done?) to cause this???

That suggests that the file "bill list.xls" is corrupt. Possibly also the other one. Were they kept on the hard drive?

Try reinstalling Excel from the CD to get past the help problem, but you may need o use your backup copy of bill list.xls. You keep a backup copy for when files do get corrupted - don't you?
