    Hi people,

would appreciate a solution or diagnosis of this problem for my little nephew! He was so upset I couldn't get James Bond - Night Fire to work properly!

Anyway, we just bought a new PC, 512mb DDR, XP2600, 60gb HD and an ATI 9000. Nightfire installs ok and runs through all of the menu screens no problem. The engine however, seems to have big trouble with the Z buffer when you actually go into the FPS game itself. The background is not erased and flickers as it would if you switched the Z buffer off - it looks appalling (of course). Now, I downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers and installed them. Still no joy. Explicitly switched on 32 bit z buffer and w buffer in the DirectX settings - still no joy - made sure we have D3D 8.1b - got it no problem (running XP) still no joy. Tried the amazingly buggy Hidden and Dangerous and it didn't have this problem (not sure if it uses GL anyway, guess not).

Anyway to sum up, I have an issue with Nightfire and the ATI9000 whereby the Z buffer appears not to be operating at all, but the game doesn't complan.

Anyone offer some words of comfort to my little nephew on this one?

    Thanks

I'm afraid there are no words of wisdom for your nephew, except that he now has the most expensive coasters around. Everyone is saying that eagames pushed this game out quickly and didn't spend any time debugging. I have been going back and forth with their support department on this issue. Lots of people are having all kinds of issues, and no two seem to be alike. I still can't get a reply as to wether they are putting out a patch or not.

Well it won't be used as a coaster - I'm sure a patch will arrive sooner or later. Its good to know it isn't any quirk with my specific hardware setup though.

    Thanks :)

EA is stupid, they always push out stuff to quick the suits want it out half done, I am afraid they must...

    1. Get off a one track mind like there failure of the Dims Online which all that money should have gone to Motor City Online becasue that game has so much more potential and scored higher then Dims.

    2. Stop pushing devs to release the programs half done and other half undone.
