lets drink a toast to innocence
lets drink a toast to now
and try to reach beyond the emptiness
Does anyone know how
(after Dan Fogelberg)
There are those of us just slightly older than angelize' baby-boomers
Someone years ago called us the Eisenhower generation; maybe that is as good as anything else.
We we post-beat, but not post drugs. We dropped acid for the experience, not for the fad. ( Poor Clinton. By the time hr got to Oxford smoking dope was a rite of passage. I believe that he took a drag to be with it, but afraid to inhale because of his mothers addiction). Such a short generation. We were innocent.
This weekend is filled with memories of innocence gained and innocence lost. Martins death also stands for Jack and Bobby. For me Bobby was the worst. He was one of us.
The Beatles first made the charts today with "I want to hold your hand. Thirty-nine years ago.
And tomorrow our muse ,our Joan of Arc, Janis would have been sixty.
