Java install options

    is there any way of installing just the basics & not installing extra language files that im probably not going to use

    just install from the website; it's not a big package at all, that way you get the latest updates as well.

    But no, I know of no way to install it selectively, unfortunately.

    i know they used to allow it but now that they have a monopoly over java they dont care. can you say antitrust!

    Hi farstrider2001,

    You shouldn't worry about the extra language files as the Java installation will be made accordingly to your computer language. It is not a question of monopoly; Sun has just simplified the way to install its JRE.
    When the installation is done, you've also the possibility to configure Java using your configuration panel.

    i thought there should be a way like a command line install of some kind
