After completing the recovery, I'm able to connect to the internet with my cable modem, Automatic Updates is set to on, but nothings happening and I can't access the update website because I don't have a Service Pack. I know support for SP2 went away a few weeks ago, but how am I supposed to get SP3 without SP2? I'm sure Microsoft.com doesn't have SP2 anywhere on they're site and I don't trust half the sites that come up when searching in google for it. Is there a SAFE site I can get SP2 from just so I can get SP3 from Microsoft? Thanks.

P.S. To the moderator(s): I think this should be a sticky. You have one that says support for SP2 is ending but nothing on what to do about it. Just my opinion.

Here is the support site for the Sony VAIO PCV-RX830 desktop.

Here is the hardware and software specifications list for that desktop.

It appears that it came with the original version of Windows XP Home Edition without any service pack.

Microsoft has the full SP2 and SP3 upgrades available for download.

You should download and save them and then burn them off to CD-R's.

Microsoft no longer has the full SP1 upgrade available for download, so you need to download and run the express file from here.

Awesome Thank you very much. I came across that SP2 site on Microsoft before, but I thought it was just an update for it since it didn't say just Service Pack 2. Thanks

Make sure to get Windows XP up-to-date with SP3 and the necessary post-SP3 updates before you load that computer with programs, add-ons, etc..
