I recently cleaned my computer with CCleaner and then shortly after, I got this message saying ' You are running very low on disk space on C:. To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here.'
I'm confused. What I just did was supposed to HELP increase disk space, not to decrease it. :(
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

DO a temp file cleandown again with CCleaner. Download FREE Wise CLeaner and run that, Also if you go to Start/All Programmes/Accessories/System Tools/CLEAN UP/OK, after the clean up, if it isn't already cleaned, do the same again CLEAN UP, but this time click MORE OPTIONS on the top right of box, and go down to the Syste/RESTORE/clean up; and that will remove all the old RESTORE points that will give you back some space. Then after that do a DEFRAG. I use the FREE Austlogics defragger....and see that all goes. I'm learning as I go along....

Do not download WiseCleaner or any other "registry cleaners/optimizers." These only cause harm to your system, and could be the reason behind this problem.

CCleaner is useful for a small number of things, but it too can cause damage with its "registry cleaner." You should uninstall this along with any other software like I've described above.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perform all of the following directions in the order they are listed:

    Click Start - All Programs.

    Click Accessories.

    Click System Tools.

    Click "System Restore."

Perform a system restore to a point before you made changes with CCleaner.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Click Start.

In the search bar type msinfo32 and hit Enter.

Copy and paste this information and put it in your next post.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Download and install TreeSize

This software will show you what is taking up space on your harddrive.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4.

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install it.

Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

Click on the "Save List" button.

    Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

    It'll then open in Notepad.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire file here.

Thanks THE SHOOTER, but I only use these cleaners for removing temporary files, and don't go anywhere near the REGISTRY. I use the MS Disk Cleaner within XP, but when I use CCleaner and Wise Cleaner there appears to be numerous other temp stuff still lingering, including "tracers". I had no idea that a "general cleaner" of temp files was dangerous. I was also told to clean up disk before I did defrag. So, what you are saying is that CCleaner and Wise Cleaner are not what they suppose to be as a temp file cleaner???

I do agree that possibly the cleaners could cause problems,

    lightglobe,
Both of those programs do more than clean temp files, you should stay clear of both. They can do much more damage than good.

    Chrisdood,
Please post the logs and results from post #3
