It's a Linux distribution used for legal security-penetration testing but also used by some hackers to gain illegal entry into computers.

What purpose do you have in mind?

    Hello Ashish,
Kali Linux is a powerful linux distribution which is based on an another linux distribution, called Debian. Kali is aimed at advanced Penetration Testing and Security Auditing. The default UI / Desktop Environment is GNOME. For more info you can click here.

if you don't know linux at all, you will find it hard to use. and don't try setting up dual boot to it along with win 10, you will lose everything.

Yes this is true. I would suggest to start with Kubuntu as the userinterface of Kubuntu is quite similar to windows plus it is a lot more powerful and provides a ton of additional options. For example in Dolphin (file explorer for Kubuntu) you will find a lot of options to play around with. Once you starts to understand how linux works you can then go for advance systems like Kali.

Another suggestion......experimenting first with a Live version of a Linux distro could be more rewarding toward knowing if Linux is 'right for you' and if so, an easier way to find what's right for the user with out the hassles of repetitively installing to a hard drive in search for the distro that fits the needs the best.

We-e-e-ell; I'd only recommend Kubuntu if a) you have fairly powerful, modern hardware (it's Ubuntu under the hood, and Canonical are ditching the old Linux ethos of keeping old hardware alive, by positioning Ubuntu as a direct competitor to Windoze 10.....and we all know how 'resource-hungry' that is.)

    b) That means powerful, modern hardware again; the Plasma5 desktop is incredibly 'heavy'. You need a reasonably competent CPU, and BIG dollops of RAM to get the best out of it.

If you're running elderly, under-powered hardware, Kubuntu is not for you.

    ----------------------------------------------

I'd steer clear of Kali like it was radioactive, and infected with the Black Death. Linux beginners have no business going anywhere near it; 'Mr. Robot' has painted a totally misleading picture of Kali as being the 'cool', 'in' thing to be seen running. It's anything BUT.

It's only for seasoned Linux professionals.....who know exactly what they're doing. There's plenty of other distros out there that'll give you a far gentler introduction to 'the dark side....!!'
