I am now using Microsoft firewall. I would appreciate opinions on using Kerio 4.3.246
    instead.

I use and recommend Zone Alarm free...

    http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html

you will be hit with a flurry of things wanting to connect to the internet after you install it...when in doubt just deny...there is one generic host process that you will have to allowor you won't be able to connect to the internet ..but after that only your anti virus and any spyware tools should be allowed..and your browser...just put a checkmark in the little box on the popup window from zone alarm saying such and such program is trying to access the internet..."remember this setting" then deny unless its one of your tools....and after about a hour or so it will run quietly in the background without bothering you...it just needs to be trained as what to deny and what to allow...dont allow windows or even zone alarm to connect without asking for permission..

Kerio firewall is a good firewall I have not heard anything bad about it but what ever you do hurry and use something else other than Microsoft firewall.

Here is a site for 10 free or free to try firewalls it might help you in your quest.

I agree - however, you might want to choose the 6.1 Version instead of the 6.5 until they get all the bugs worked out. Zone Alarm has some problems with the latest Version. (For instance, I have ZA Free and PerfectDisk both on my pc. ZA 6.5 will not let PerfectDisk defragment during boot - and admit it's a "bug" - there are - or at least were, several others which caused some people problems). I just went back to 6.1 and it runs well for me.

Downloads for both Versions are here:
