A friends Sony laptop a few years old on XP, is not logging on, giving a blue screen of:
Kernel stack Inpage Error -
which is preventing windows from opening. These are the instructions its
giving me:
-Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software.
-Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
-If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options and then select safe
mode.
He doesn't really know how to go about this, and I'm not totally sure of the problem and how best to solve it. Can someone please advise what has happened, what he's best to do (whether an above option or not) and describe point by point how to do it. He needs the laptop back ASAP to do important work. Many thanks.
