I have a dual boot system with Win XP and Ubuntu 8.10.
yesterday i restarted my win xp as part of completion of installation of some program.
the keyboard and mouse work smoothly in Ubuntu and am also able to make the OS selection but just when the startup screen appears, the keyboard and mouse just stop funtioning. what could be da problem ? i suspect the presence of a virus. how can this be fixed widout having to format and reinstall windows. Can anything be done from within the Linux system. what are files responsible for loading keyboard and mouse drivers ?

    can anyone help ??

please, i do not want to format da system...its gonna be painful....please please help me out.....and one more thing ..trying out the options resulting from F8 arent working either...

    thanks for any help...
