my ms wireless comfort keyboard 4000 has been installed, the device manager says it is working properly. The wireless mouse that works off the same receiver works just fine. The keyboard is absolutely dead.
I have tried using the ps2 port with a usb adapter. I have tried using the front usb ports (which work with other peripherals). I have tried using a powered hub. The ps2 with adapter doesn't work for the keyboard or the mouse. The various usb ports work for the mouse but not the keyboard. I changed the batteries in the keyboard, no change.
I uninstalled all other keyboard drivers and restarted, no luck

besides I cant get by the boot options without a ps2 attached keyboard - even after I entered the enable usb keyboard in cmos
    what am I missing?
and-- the ps2 adapter says it is for a mouse. Does the keyboard need a different adapter?

Okay, no responses, so I returned it and got another. It works beautifully. Sometimes you just get a product that doesn't work.

Swapping with another keyboard is typically the easiest thing to test in this situation.
