I have a Gateway NE56R10u running windows 7 and the keyboard doesn’t work. Every key produces no response on the laptop. Did I accidentally lock the keyboard, and if so, how do I unlock it. I will be getting a new laptop soon and don’t want to spend money on this one, but I know some people who could use an old laptop to do some mundane work. Any ideas?

    Thank You

For testing purposes connect a USB keyboard and see if that works, try the on-screen keyboard if the USB one doesn't work and let us know what happens.

Do not have a USB keyboard. The on-screen keyboard works fine if just a bit slowly .

Ok, I would check the keyboard cable is properly connected, the video at around 3:40 shows how to release the keyboard and how the cable connects :-

You may have to remove some screws from underneath the laptop to fully release the keyboard. Also to undo the cable here's a better picture to show how the locking clip works :-
